Background Story:
The sun was just beginning to set low in the fields that lay out of the Village . It cast such a red hue over all, so that it seemed that the very fields blushed, flattered by celestial light and glory. As the men and their wives began to return to their homes from a long day at work, one of the women stumbled. Her name was Tereliscë, and she was one of the Fair Folk – the elves, who called themselves the Firstborn. Her grace and beauty were greatly diminished, however, for this was an hour of great travail. All the days’ work had been slow and painful, for her.

She stopped beside a well, to catch her breath, and placed a slender hand to her swollen stomach, her pregnancy clearly evident. She began to gasp for breath, crying out in pain. Before any of the other women of the village could get to her, her water broke, and she staggered, clinging to the well for support. In a cry of agony, the mother felt the baby, which had not been expected for another moon, begin its exodus from the womb. Its small, underdeveloped frame allowed the infant to pass with relative ease, almost all at once. Before the mother could get in the proper position, something heartbreaking happened.

Still connected by its birth-cord, the infant fell to the ground, gravity pulling the child in a deadly embrace. The sound of crunching bones was heard, and the babe screamed in pain and confusion. Collapsing to the ground, the mother passed out, her birth-pains pulling her from the waking world, into an uneasy sleep, full of shadowy nightmares.

One of the midwives, having only just arrived, quickly set to work, trying to clean the baby and to save both mother and child. Difficult as it was, they managed to get the both of them back into the village, using a small cot. Tereliscë awoke to find herself in her own home, her baby nowhere to be seen. She immediately cried out for her baby, and it was then that she felt the gentle touch of her husband’s hand upon hers. In answer to her pleas, the midwife entered the room, and lifted the infant out of the basket, and carried her to her mother. Though the babe had been silent until now, the moment that she was lifted, she cried so intensely that it tore at one’s heartstrings to hear it.

Tereliscë tried to comfort her newly-born daughter, but with each gentle stroke from her mother’s hand, the infant only cried all the louder. Looking up with tears in her eyes, and confusion in her heart, she asked,

“What is wrong? Why does she cry so?”

The midwife hung her head, and she felt her husband stroke her hand, attempting to sooth her?

“WHAT HAPPENED?” she cried, distraught.

The midwife, with a quick and polite bow, began,

“My lady, it seems there was an accident with the birth. The healers said that when she was born, she hit the ground, and broke many bones. They may be able to ease the pain and healing, but she may never fully recover. I’m sorry, my lady.”

The mother cast her tear-filled gaze from her child to the others around her. She kept muttering, “My little Ayra! My dear, sweet, little Ayra…” Sobbing, she held the tormented child to her bosom, and drifted once more into a dark slumber.

The child would heal, in time, though never fully. She would always be frail and fragile, a graceful flower among the daughters of Estolad. When the time came for her Essecarmë, her name-giving, her father named her Ayra, because of the travail of her mother. Her older sister would often mock her with it, weakening the girl’s already fragile self-esteem.

Her father’s name was Námo, and he was a great Wizard among the people , especially in smith-cunning. His daughter would take after him, and though she was weak of frame and sinew, her skill with her magic was remarkable for her age. She displayed skill with it . She grew strong of heart, independent, and shy. Her weakness kept her from playing with the other children, often forcing her to find her own means of entertainment, which only drove her to excel further.

After several years passed Her parents died. They were in a house as one of her Fathers spells backfired on him exploding the room that he and her mother were in.Since then Ayra left the small town and settled in a bigger one. There she learned of her longing to be an Assassin. She then spent her time learning to use weapon and tailoring spell to help with this.
